Buying a Zebra Skin Rug from a Company based in Africa can be confusing and sometimes illegal.
Q: How do you know if you will get what you order?
A: You do not. Theoretically you are at the mercy of the seller. The seller can send whatever they want and as long as you can prove that you have received the rug via a Shipping Company Tracking number then from the sellers side he sold you a zebra rug and you received it which means he has fulfilled his end of the transaction.
Q: Is the zebra rug that you are buying legal?
A: There are several species of zebra. The US Government only allows trade in one kind of zebra. Other countries have different laws. Can you trust the seller to obey the law or does the seller just want your money?
Q: Does the seller have a return policy?
A: This is an important question. We have seen sellers from Africa that do have a return policy but there is really very little chance of a buyer to adhere to it. For example: if the seller has a 10-day return policy is this even logistically feasible for you to comply with it. The legal export process of an animal product can be time consuming and expensive. Most exports need special permits, inspection fees and shipping fees can be other the top.
Q: Can you dispute your purchase with your credit card company?
A: Sure, but will you be successful? If the seller can prove that you received the zebra rug and that they have not received the return in the allotted time that he has set forth for returns you may be out of luck with a credit card Dispute of Charges.
Unfortunately there are many unscrupulous sellers in the zebra rug business so please do your home work. Do not let your desire for a beautiful zebra skin rug for your home or office turn into an expensive nightmare.

It is the responsibility of the importer to obtain the necessary export permit(s) from the Country of Origin before the item(s) arrive in the USA.
Upon arrival in the USA the item(s) are then required to to be made available to undergo inspection at a designated US Fish & Wildlife port of entry before you can receive them. This means the seller outside the USA cannot ship the package directly to your address in the USA without first receiving clearance for the appropriate US Federal Agencies.
Failure to adhere to these regulations can result in seizure and/or forfeiture of goods, fines or imprisonment.
